DoodleMania News Board!
08 / 13 / 24
Greetings. It's been a while, so let's catch up on what we missed!
About four years ago, I've created a special server event that lasted throughout almost a year split in two parts - Part one consisted of drawing multiple art submissions to gather "special tickets", and the second part were the streams of watching multiple OCs duking it out on the wrestling stage made by several talented artists from a Discord server. The streams lasted only in two parts, each being about an hour or two long, and were all pre-recorded for convenience. The event in itself had gathered a positive reception for how wacky it was for OCs to be turned into these gross-looking humans in a WWE 2K game, and had loved the overal comedic tone that the event had provided. Granted, there were delays to the streams, multiple cast cuts in between production, and overall felt unfinished by the end of the event. A wrestling event from prior, dubbed "GMI All-Stars", had included various fighters of both users and OCs fighting each other on stage, only to converge into a Marvel Infinity War storyline with Proko (Trust me, it was a different time back then). DoodleMania (2021) had planned to include an original storyline after the first stream, introducing "The NEO Variants" of our past winners, of which they would slowly take over the tournament and have the original fighters be defeated by these powerful clones from another world. Sadly, this storyline was scrapped midway through due to time constraints, and had instead, gone with the "Who really is Toby Fox" reveal storyline. In the end of the stream, a NEO variant of a user is shown to defeat another user in battle, ending the event in such an anti-climatic moment.
After when the event had concluded, a brief two-year gap had occured, with no major event in sight. That is, until DoodleMania 2 was announced back in late 2022. This event was to be a sequel to the original DoodleMania before it, and would feature a rivalry tournament between two art servers: Art Labs and Art Block Avenue. Registration for the event had begun in mid-2023, with various OCs being submitted by artists from both servers respectively. However, the event had sadly been put on hiatus again due to configuring the game mechanic of the event to not be "too overly complicated" for new users. As of 2024, the event in itself is slowly going back into being active again, rebranded as DoodleMania (2024).
Roadmap for DoodleMania (2024)
Upon writing this document, there was a thoughtful debate if the event should conclude this coming winter, or have it be pushed back until next spring to save time and stress on rushing another product like DoodleMania (2021) had to endure. I'm satisfied with the decision to push back the event's deadline back to early spring of next year, to focus on adding more content to the streams and making sure to not cut back on anything that will disatisfy users in the longrun. I wish to bring as much cheer and action for this event's streams, and to be able to do that after deadling with a long hiatus, I would have to add more time and not rush at the last minute. I am hopeful that this will be the last time I would have to delay a event like this again. The dates you see below are on a visioned timeline that I believe these products will be released for public viewing on both my Twitter and YouTube channel, and I will be happy to also include it on my website too. These dates do not CONFIRM the release, but are speculated to most likely arrive around that time in the year. Take it with a grain of salt.
Winter 2024: The first video trailer for DoodleMania will drop.
Spring 2025: DoodleMania stream will be live on Twitch / YouTube, along with the trailer for "Project Star".
Summer 2025: Project Star will be released, and a special ending ceremony of the event will commence.
Project Star: What even is that?
Project Star is a collaborative JRPG made on the RPGMaker engine. The game acts as a special epilogue to the main storyline of DoodleMania, which I will not spoil anything about the plot, and features characters of both old and new. Music composition, art assets, and some parts of the programming will be done by me, whereas other creators are open to contribute in fixing the code, and adding other content to the game. It will be worked under a small team of experienced artists and programmers, of which will be compensated for their time and efforts. If you wish to join the project, you can happily send an email to Kamskisketchiwork@gmail.com (must be 19+ to apply).
We are aiming to release Project Star sometime late summer of 2025, and will be available to download on Itch.io and from this website for FREE!
